Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson says his side is fully prepared to defend their title at the upcoming WAFU Zone B U20 Women’s Cup in Benin.

Speaking to ghanafa.org, Sampson revealed that the team has quickly settled in despite arriving late and missing their initial training session.

“Unfortunately, we came a bit late yesterday, so we couldn’t train as planned. We were forced to put in a lot of effort today to be ready for tomorrow,” he said.

The coach described the tournament as a timely opportunity to give his players valuable international exposure ahead of their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

“We’re taking this as a stepping stone for our World Cup qualifiers with South Africa,” he noted.

Ghana will open their campaign against host nation Benin on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 09:00 GMT.

Sampson added that his players are focused and motivated to maintain Ghana’s dominance.

“Our aim is to win it. Being defending champions is a big motivation for the girls, and they want to replicate what their predecessors did,” he concluded.

The tournament runs from November 7-11, 2025.
