Odartey Lamptey proud after exit, says he’s laid strong foundation for Eleven Wonders
· GhanaSoccernetCoach Nii Odartey Lamptey says he departs Eleven Wonders satisfied, believing he has laid a strong foundation for the club’s future progress.
The former Ghana international stepped down after the team’s 3-2 defeat to Nations FC, which left them 17th in the Ghana Premier League table with just two points from seven matches.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Lamptey clarified that his resignation was a personal choice and not a decision forced by management.
“A lot of people called me from Kumasi saying I’d been sacked. I wasn’t sacked. I submitted my resignation letter to the club’s leadership,” he explained.
Lamptey maintained that his reputation in football remains secure, adding that his work at Eleven Wonders was motivated by passion, not personal gain.
“I’ve already made my name. This job can’t add to or take anything away from the name I’ve made. I’m just helping them out,” he said.
The former Anderlecht and Aston Villa midfielder also expressed confidence that the club’s current setup can be built upon by his successor.
“Now, I think the foundation of the team has been laid, you can see it when they play,” he stated.
Eleven Wonders are expected to appoint a new head coach soon as they prepare to face Aduana FC at the Swedru Stadium in their next league match.
