Winfried Schäfer to earn $65,000 as monthly salary as Black Stars technical advisor - Reports
· GhanaSoccernetThe newly appointed technical advisor for the Black Stars, Winfried Schäfer will receive a hefty monthly salary of $65,000, according to Kumasi-based Pure FM.
This decision follows a restructuring of the technical team after Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The German coach, who led Cameroon to victory in the 2002 AFCON, will take on the role of technical advisor and Director of Football for the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Besides his salary, Schäfer is set to earn a substantial bonus if he assists Otto Addo in securing Black Stars' qualification for the 2026 World Cup, set to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Further financial discussions, including unclassified payments, are expected to be discussed with government as World Cup qualifiers are set to resume in March.
Meanwhile, Otto Addo's monthly salary of $50,000 will remain the same.
The revamped technical team also includes Kris Perquy as the new psychologist, Gregory De Grauwe as the video analyst, and Black Satellites' Desmond Ofei, who replaces Joseph Laumann as the first-team assistant coach.
With their AFCON hopes dashed, the Black Stars will focus on improving their performance in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, facing Chad and Madagascar in the next round of matches.
