Asante Kotoko defender Lord Amoah has appealed to supporters to rally behind the team ahead of Sunday’s clash against rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi

Kotoko approach the fixture amid a turbulent period that has seen their elimination from the MTN FA Cup, the resignation of head coach Karim Zito and unrest at training, where interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu was forced out by sections of the fanbase. The instability has added to the pressure surrounding the club in recent days.

Amoah acknowledged the disappointment among supporters and admitted the players must take responsibility for recent performances.

“We are disappointed with our recent poor performance, including our MTN FA Cup exit. We are sorry for that,” he told Pure FM.

Despite the setbacks, the defender remains optimistic about the team’s prospects. He believes Kotoko can begin a strong run of results, starting with victory in the upcoming derby.

“I can confidently say that we will win the rest of the games, starting from the Hearts game this Sunday,” he said.
