Former Ghana international Sam Johnson is undoubtedly confident about the Black Stars chances ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament.

The African giants will participate in the expanded World Cup tournament, to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, marking the Black Stars fifth appearance at the mundial next year.

The Black Stars restored national pride after finishing on top of Group I to secure a place at the global showpiece, having missed out on AFCON 2025.

Speaking to CitiSports, the former Ghana defender stressed Ghana can perform better at the mundial, insisting the Black Stars has got quality players capable of competing at the highest level.

“It’s not all that difficult. They are going to play against the same people they play with over there so it’s going to be a different story altogether.”

“They have to start doing something now. They have to give us hope I’m sure this time they will do something as far as the World Cup is concerned.”

The West African football heavyweights will learn their 2026 World Cup group stage opponents on December 5, 2025.
