Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has backed goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to excel in Ghana’s high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany, dismissing any doubts over the shot-stopper's readiness for elite European opposition.

Speaking ahead of the Black Stars' crucial tests in Vienna and Stuttgart, Dramani highlighted Asare’s proven track record, noting that he solidified his status as the national number one during the final stages of the World Cup qualifiers.

The coach pointed specifically to Asare's composed performances in high-pressure victories over Comoros and Mali as evidence of his big-game temperament.

"He's the number one for Ghana. If you check on Ghana's record in terms of the last six games Ghana has played, he's our number one because he finished the qualifiers in very important games against Comoros and against Mali.

"Benjamin was in there. So that tells you that we just pray for his fitness level to improve and then mentally to be ready and to be ready with his footrace. I have no doubt in his abilities and his leadership qualities.”

The first of these tests takes place today, Friday, March 27, 2026, as Ghana faces Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

This will be followed by a high-stakes encounter against four-time world champions Germany on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart.
