They listened to us and it worked perfectly – Prince Owusu delighted after first Kotoko win

Interim head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Prince Owusu, has expressed immense satisfaction after securing his first victory in charge of the Porcupine Warriors, praising his players for heeding tactical instructions against Young Apostles.

Kotoko bounced back from last week's Super Clash defeat to Hearts of Oak with a commanding 2-0 win away in Wenchi, lifting the team from fifth to fourth place in the Ghana Premier League standings. They now trail leaders Medeama SC by seven points.

Speaking after the match, Owusu revealed that the key to the victory lay in his players' willingness to implement the game plan despite the pressure of recent results.

"It means a lot. This is my first win; definitely make people recognise what I can do," Owusu said.

"There was pressure after the Hearts loss; the players felt it, so we tried to talk to them to forget about the pressure and then concentrate on the formation that we wanted to play."

The coach, who stepped up from his role as assistant following Abdul Karim Zito's resignation, emphasized the importance of player-coach trust in delivering the result.

"They listened to us, and it worked perfectly today for us."

The victory provides a timely boost for Kotoko as they seek to rebuild momentum under new leadership, while offering Owusu a first taste of success in his interim role.
