Christopher Ennin optimistic Samartex can improve finishing despite Hearts of Oak setback
· GhanaSoccernetFC Samartex head coach Christopher Ennin remains confident his side can address their finishing shortcomings following a narrow defeat to Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
Hearts edged Samartex 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, a result that lifted the Phobians to 28 points and second place, level with leaders Aduana ahead of their weekend fixture.
While the loss was decided by a single moment, Ennin focused on the broader development of his team, stressing belief in their ability to grow in front of goal.
“It’s an error that gave them the goal because we conceded, and then it changed the entire game plan,” Ennin said. “I think it’s something we still need to work on. The finishing aspect is also lacking. They are still young, we are building them, so I think we’ll get there.”
Samartex showed early intent and nearly stunned Hearts inside two minutes when Christian Agyenim Boateng capitalised on a mistake by Abdul Karim, but his effort struck goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi.
Hearts responded swiftly. Mawuli Wayo missed an early chance before forcing an error from Roland Grippman, winning possession and squaring for Hamza Issah to convert the decisive goal.
