Ragnar Ache gave FC Koln fans a moment to cheer when he opened the scoring in their 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday night.

The German-Ghanaian striker rose highest to meet Isak Bergmann Johannesson’s corner in the 31st minute, heading into the bottom-right corner to give Koln a surprise lead at the RheinEnergieSTADION. Ache, who played the full 90 minutes, was a constant presence up front and won the most duels in the game (13), showing his strength and determination against Bayern’s tough defense.

However, Bayern quickly turned the game around. Luis Diaz equalized five minutes later, and Harry Kane scored twice before Michael Olise sealed the win with a clinical finish in the 72nd minute. The result sent Bayern into the round of 16, extending their winning streak to 14 games this season.

Despite the defeat, Koln fans applauded Ache’s performance, hopeful that his form will continue when they face Hamburger SV in the league on November 2.
