Ballon d’Or 2026: Chelsea’s former defender, Robert Huth names two favourites to win award

by · Daily Post

Former Chelsea defender, Robert Huth, has named two favourites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Huth also ruled out England captain Harry Kane from winning the Ballon d’Or.

According to him, the Bayern Munich striker only deserves to be in the top ten Ballon d’Or power ranking because there are other exciting players ahead of him.

“Harry Kane should be nominated for the Ballon d’Or. He had a couple of good seasons with Bayern Munich,” Huth said as quoted by Planet Football.

“He should be in the top 10. He is an amazing player, but in my opinion, there are a few more exciting players ahead of him,” he said.

When asked who is the favourite to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, Huth mentioned France’s Kylian Mbappe and Spain’s Lamine Yamal.

“I have really enjoyed Mbappe at the World Cup. Yamal was obviously the most amazing,” he added.
