AFCON 2025: Senegal become first team to qualify for semi-final

by · Daily Post

Senegal have become the first country to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

This follows their narrow 1-0 victory over 10-man Mali on Friday evening.

The Teranga Lions scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute of play through Iliman Ndiaye.

Yves Bissouma was sent off in added time of the first half, to give Mali a huge mountain to climb.

But Senegal failed to make their numerical advantage count more after the break, as there were no further goals.

They will now take on either Egypt or Burkina Faso for a place in the AFCON final.
