AFCON 2025: Egypt coach salutes players despite defeat to Super Eagles
by Mike Oyebola · Daily PostEgypt head coach Hossam Hassan has reacted to his team’s loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.
The Pharaohs lost the third-place encounter 4-2 on penalties, finishing the tournament empty-handed.
The North Africans battled hard in the game but failed to seriously test Stanley Nwabali.
Egypt were, however, resolute at the back, stifling the Super Eagles’ attack for the majority of the game.
Captain Mohamed Salah and Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush missed in the shootout.
Hassan praised his players for their effort in the game.
“I am very satisfied with my team’s performance and proud of their commitment and the spirit they displayed till the end. Penalty shootouts are part of football. Sometimes they go in your favour and sometimes they don’t, and you have to accept that and keep working,” Hassan said after the game.
