NFL draft: Shedeur Sanders selected by Cleveland Browns after falling to 5th round

by · Daily Post

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th pick in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

It is a surprising slide down the boards for Sanders, whom many considered a first-round pick.

The 23-year-old was a lightning rod of a prospect during the draft season.

While many projected him as a first-round selection, he went undrafted on the first two nights.

Sanders was projected as high as No. 3 to the New York Giants or the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 2.

Ultimately, he was selected in the fifth round by Cleveland.

Five quarterbacks — Miami’s Cam Ward, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, Louisville’s Tyler Shough, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel — were selected ahead of Sanders.

In reaction to the pick, Sanders wrote on X: “Thank you GOD.”
