AFCON: They’re favourites – Mali coach, Tom Saintfiet names best team

Tom Saintfiet, Mali’s head coach, has named Senegal as the best team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, tournament in Morocco.

Saintfiet, who spoke ahead of Mali’s AFCON quarter-final clash with Senegal on Friday evening, insisted that the Teranga Lions are favourites.

“Senegal is the best team right now, but we are not afraid,” Saintfiet said via CAFOnline.

“We have prepared well, everyone is ready, and while they are favourites, I am confident we can cause an upset.”

The winner between Mali and Senegal will face the winner between Egypt and Ivory Coast in the semi-final stage.
