Glasgow 2026: Enekwechi clinches shot put gold
by Mike Oyebola · Daily PostTeam Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi claimed gold in the men’s shot put with a throw of 21.07m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Enekwechi edges New Zealand’s Tom Walsh, who claims silver with 21.03m, while England’s Scott Lincoln takes bronze with 20.99m.
The 33-year-old made history as the first Nigerian to win shotput gold in the games’ history.
The African record holder upgraded his silver from the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in Australia.
It would be recalled that Enekwechi came fourth in the event four years ago in Birmingham.
Team Nigeria has now eight gold medals at Glasgow 2026.
