Be cautious with fire this harmattan – Kano fire service warns residents

by · Daily Post

The Kano State Fire Service has urged residents to handle fire with extreme care as the harmattan season sets in, warning that the period usually comes with a high risk of fire outbreaks.

The statement was signed by Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service.

The warning came as the Director of the Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, officially declared this year’s harmattan fire awareness campaign during a meeting on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting, Anas said the campaign is aimed at educating the public on the dangers of fire during the dry season.

He appealed to residents to be cautious while handling fire, especially in this harmattan period.

He noted that many incidents can be avoided with simple safety measures.

He also directed the Fire Prevention Unit to intensify its public sensitisation efforts and ensure full implementation of the campaign across communities.
