Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was forced off with a suspected muscle injury during his side’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Istanbul Basaksehir on Friday night.

Osimhen opened the scoring for the champions in the 16th minute with a brilliant finish.

However, the 27-year-old lasted only 15 more minutes before he was substituted.

The Super Eagles talisman was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz.

Osimhen’s goal was his sixth of the season. He has also registered three assists.

The timing of the injury could raise concerns for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifiers later this month.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Madagascar on September 23 before travelling to Guinea-Bissau four days later for their second qualifying fixture.
