AFCON: What I told my teammates before win against Ivory Coast – Egypt captain, Salah
by Don Silas · Daily PostEgypt captain, Mohamed Salah has revealed what he told his teammates before their AFCON quarter-final win against Ivory Coast on Saturday.
Goals from Salah, Omar Marmoush, and Ramy Rabia ensured the Pharaohs defeat the AFCON defending champions 3-2.
Guéla Doué and Ahmed Fatouh (own goal) did score for Ivory Coast during the encounter.
Speaking to reporters at his post-match interview, Salah revealed that he told his teammates to give everything as soon as they step on the pitch to face Émerse Fae’s side.
“I’m very happy and proud to play with these guys. We always want to bring joy to the Egyptian fans, and we believe we can win every match with this mindset,” the Liverpool winger said.
“The Ivorians won the AFCON last time at home. They played like champions today as well.
“I try to bring my experience to help us achieve great things. I always tell my teammates to give everything as soon as they step on the pitch. It’s very important to do that so we’ve no regrets.”
