Mourinho was without the suspended Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler and Eduardo Camavinga in midfield.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for Los Blancos, before Federico Valverde doubled their lead at the Bernabeu.
Carlos Augustus pulled one back for the Serie A champions in what was a thrilling game of football.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho said: “The players did a fantastic job, and they won a tough match under tough conditions, with weakness in our midfield, and a lot of intensity.
It wasn’t a boring match. And we could have gone 3-0 in the last minute of the first half, and maybe turned 3-0 into 4-0 or 5-0.”
