EDMONTON — Brad Marchand scored at 8:04 of double overtime to lift the Florida Panthers to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers tonight in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers tied the best-of-seven series at 1-1.

Game 3 is Monday in Sunrise, Florida.

It appeared that Marchand's short-handed goal at 12:09 of the second period — which gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead — was going to hold up as the winner, but Corey Perry scored the equalizer for the Oilers with 18 seconds left in the third and netminder Stuart Skinner on the bench for the extra attacker.

Sam Bennett, Seth Jones and Dmitry Kulikov also scored for the Panthers. Defenceman Nate Schmidt chipped in with two assists.

Evan Bouchard had a goal and two assists for the Oilers, while Evander Kane and Leon Draisaitl also scored for the Oilers, who led 3-2 after the first period but trailed 4-3 heading into the third. Connor McDavid added three assists.

More to come.
