ISL | Mohun Bagan keen to finish league assignments with another win

by · The Hindu

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will look to complete its league-stage campaign with a win when it hosts second-placed FC Goa in the ISL at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Saturday.

Mohun Bagan retained the League Shield by notching a record 16 wins, primarily riding on its fantastic performance at home. The Mariners outshone every other side by scoring 10 wins out of its 11 home games.

The only time it faltered was in the inaugural match where it was held 2-2 by the reigning champion Mumbai City FC. It has 53 points from 23 matches.

Mohun Bagan head coach Jose Molina said that his team would strive for another win.

“It will be good if we can finish with 56 [points]. We will try our best and prove to everybody that we are in the right place.

“That is the only thing we can do when we are playing as the champion in front of our fans,” Molina said.

The match also presents an opportunity for Mohun Bagan to avenge the 1-2 loss it suffered in the reverse fixture while visiting Goa last December.
