Two female candidates, Devdutta Majhi from West Bengal and Sai Manogna Guthikondat from Andhra Pradesh, and 22 male candidates achieved 100 percentile score in this year’s Joint Entrance Examination (JEE- Main) for admissions in undergraduate courses in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Out of the 22 male candidates, seven are from Rajasthan, three each from Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra and two each are from Gujarat and Delhi and one each student from West Bengal and Karnataka. The National Testing Agency announced the results here on Saturday (April 19, 2025).

The NTA said in a release that out of the 24 candidates who achieved 100 percentile score, 21 are from the general category, while one each belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and the Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories. More than 9.92 lakh candidates had appeared for the second edition of this year’s examination while 10.61 lakh candidates had attended the first edition.

The NTA said the scores of JEE are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. “The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained,” the NTA said.

‘Prescribed formula’

“100 X Number of candidates appeared in the ‘session’ with raw score equal to or than the candidate divided by total number of candidates who appeared in the ‘session’,” is the formula prescribed by the NTA for the examinations.

Based on the results of JEE (Main) Paper 1 and Paper 2, the NTA will shortlist the candidates for JEE (Advanced). “For those candidates who appeared in both sessions of the examination, the best NTA score of both the sessions has been declared,” the NTA added.

The examination was conducted in 13 languages — Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
