Ayden Heaven breaks silence after Manchester United injury as Victor Osimhen sets 'deadline'
by Kieran King · Manchester Evening NewsManchester United face a two-week break before they are next in action. Ruben Amorim's side beat Leicester City on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run to four matches, but do not take to the field again until Tuesday, April 2 when they travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
The March international break has halted domestic fixtures, and because United are out of the FA Cup, they do not have a game until the following midweek. It means Amorim has a sustained amount of time to work with his players on the training field, though most of them are away on international duty.
Nevertheless, the last couple of weeks have been positive for United since their FA Cup exit against Fulham. They beat Real Sociedad in a two-legged Europa League round of 16 tie, and also earned a valuable draw against Arsenal and beat Leicester in a comfortable victory on the road. Here is the latest news from Old Trafford...
Heaven provides injury update
Ayden Heaven has provided an injury update after he took to social media on Tuesday afternoon. Heaven made his first senior competitive start in last week's 4-1 last-16 second leg win over Real Sociedad and made a promising start to his full Premier League debut at the King Power Stadium.
But the 18-year-old would leave the field on a stretcher just minutes into the second half after suffering a serious-looking injury attempting to stop Patson Daka meeting a cross. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, he said: "Thank you guys for all the support! I have read all your messages, and I'm doing really well and recovering fast," he said alongside a red love heart emoji and a picture of him being stretched off.
United striker shortlist
Manchester United are interested in both RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike as they look to strengthen their attacking options this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany. United are said to be 'unhappy' with both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund and are looking at alternatives.
When it comes to Sesko, the Slovenia international has a release clause where the value is going to depend on the goal and assist output from now until the end of the season. As for Ekitike, he does not have a release clause, and Frankfurt are expected to let him leave for around £67 million this summer.
MEN says: Although Rasmus Hojlund found the net at Leicester and Joshua Zirkzee has hit some form, United need to sign a new striker this summer if they want to progress under Ruben Amorim. It does feel as though, at this stage, there are a number of different players they could target.
Sesko is the one that looks the most appealing right now due to his goal record in Germany and his overall threat in the opposition box. That's not to say that Ekitike shouldn't be considered, but Sesko, who has scored 17 goals in 36 appearances this season, would be the preferred choice.
Osimhen deadline
Galatasaray chief Abdullah Kavukcu has revealed that Napoli forward Victor Osimhen will provide some clarity over whether he could extend his stay this month. The Nigerian has been linked with a move to United this summer, having spent the season on loan with Galatasaray in Turkey.
"Osimhen will inform us of his decision in April," Kavukcu said, per Calcio Napoli 1926. "At the moment, the top five clubs in the world have also shown interest in him."
"Osimhen's arrival was a dream come true," Kavukcu added. "Now he is here and playing for us.
"In January, there was talk of him leaving, but he stayed because he loves Galatasaray. Today, he is the player all our rivals would like to have."
MEN says: Like Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, there is no doubt Victor Osimhen would strengthen United's front line. He has scored 20 goals in 22 Super Lig appearances for Galatasaray this season, and although the Premier League is a different proposition, it's still an impressive record.
At this stage, Sesko would be preferred to Osimhen, but he is an excellent alternative if United can't get him. Osimhen would cost around £62m should Napoli stick to that asking price.
