Luke Littler aims cheeky dig at Liverpool amid Ruben Amorim Manchester United verdict
by Kieran King · Manchester Evening NewsDarts prodigy Luke Littler has playfully jabbed at Liverpool following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the new manager for his favourite team, Manchester United. The 17-year-old revealed he was among the 6,400 fans who monitored Amorim's flight from Portugal to Manchester on Monday as the now ex-Sporting CP head coach tied up his move into the Old Trafford dugout.
Signing a contract for an initial two-and-a-half years, Amorim steps into the role left by Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed last month. Despite United's struggles this season, finding themselves in a puzzling 13th place in the Premier League standings before November's international break, departed interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has provided some stability.
But now with Amorim taking charge - a mere six months after he was closely linked with the top job at Liverpool and conversed with West Ham - there is renewed interest in United's future directions.

As Littler competes in the Grand Slam of Darts - in Wolverhampton - he was quizzed by Sky Sports about his take on United's fresh direction, and Littler implied that Amorim had spurned an opportunity to follow in Jurgen Klopp's footsteps at Liverpool.
"I was, on the little flight radar. It was the No.1 tracked flight with like 6,400 people," the young darts marvel shared with Sky Sports. "I've been focusing on both... mostly this!"
Littler added: "I don't know whether he's going to do a [good] job, but we've got him in for some reason. Obviously, he didn't want to go to Liverpool last season or West Ham either, so he chose us."

Littler, a lifelong United fan, saw his popularity sky-rocket after making a splash at last year's PDC World Championship. His remarkable journey led to an invitation to meet United's first-team stars at Carrington.
Additionally, he enjoyed VIP treatment back in January, watching United's 2-2 draw against Tottenham at Old Trafford, even meeting Sir Alex Ferguson.
