Next Manchester United transfer after Marcus Rashford move given green light

by · Manchester Evening News

Marcus Rashford's move to Aston Villa could reportedly see Manchester United make a loan offer for Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a loan deal for Rashford to join Unai Emery's team for the rest of the season is making headway, with hopes high that it will be finalised before Monday's 11pm transfer deadline. Villa have turned their attention to Rashford following the sale of striker Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for a hefty £64million on Friday.

And Rashford's departure to Birmingham could now see the Reds turn towards Tel, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this week. The 19-year-old has failed to score this season, although he has struggled for game time under Vincent Kompany, having made just 14 appearances across all competitions.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg has now claimed that a move for Tel could happen once Rashford leaves, although other options are also being assessed. He adds that Villa have also made contact with the French forward.

"Manchester United have once again clearly signaled to FC Bayern in the last few hours that they are considering submitting a concrete loan offer for Mathys Tel," he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Man Utd want to prepare in case Marcus Rashford moves to Aston Villa. Bayern are now awaiting the next move from #MUFC. At this stage there’s is no agreement between Man Utd and Tel yet and Man Utd are also exploring other options. Not only Tel.

"This morning, there was also new contact between Aston Villa‘s and Tel‘s management. Tel will not be in the squad for today’s match against Kiel."
