Premier League managers say the same thing about Ruben Amorim ahead of Man United debut
by Amie Wilson · Manchester Evening NewsRuben Amorim is preparing to take charge of his first Manchester United game this weekend with his new team travelling to take on newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm kick-off).
All eyes will be on the new United boss and what immediate impact he can have. The Reds are unbeaten in all competitions since the sacking of Erik ten Hag, with interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy leading them to three wins and a draw in his four games in charge.
The international break has given Amorim time to work with some of his new players, and implement the start of his ideas. Although a lot have been on international duty, returning to Carrington this week.

The appointment of a new head coach at Old Trafford is always going to cause talk around the wider footballing world. So it’s no surprise that other Premier League bosses have had their say on his arrival. Here’s a look at some of their comments, with them in agreement that hiring Amorim is a good move for United.
Marco Silva (Fulham)
Speaking ahead of Amorim’s first game in charge of United, Silva has revealed a chat with the Premier League’s newest arrival. The Fulham boss was also has no doubt that his compatriot is ready.
“Firstly, he is a very good manager,” he said on Friday. “I think it is a great challenge for him and he is more than ready for it.
"Of course I have already spoken with him. What I wish for him is always the best."
Pep Guardiola (Man City)
The Man City boss, spoke of Amorim’s arrival at United before the two managers met in the Champions League. Amorim’s Sporting came out as 4-1 winners over Guardiola’s City.
Following the announcement of his arrival at United, Guardiola had a message for Amorim.
"Welcome to United, to England,” he said. "I congratulate him, [we will speak] next Tuesday. I'm not the right person to give advice to colleagues.
“They have a lot of people at United who can give information about what is happening at United.
“I hear that Man United are thinking about him, it’s because he’s a good manager. Man United don’t appoint managers who aren’t that level so the last five, six, seven years, we cannot say they are not able to lead Man United.”
Enzo Maresca (Chelsea)
The Chelsea boss spoke following United’s confirmation of Amorim’s arrival. “First of all, all the best to him,” he said.
“If the people in charge took that decision it’s because they think it’s the best one. All the best to him and all the best to Man United.”
Unai Emery (Aston Villa)
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery had a similar stance when he spoke after United’s official statement.
He said: “I know something about Amorim as we’ve played sometimes [against each other] and I know he’s doing really good work in Portugal with Sporting. If Manchester United decided to appoint him it’s because he deserves it.”
Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town)
Amorim’s first game in charge will see him come up against former United coach Kieran McKenna. The manager is now with Ipswich Town and is looking to keep them in the Premier Lague after leading them to back-to-back promotions.
“When Man United come to Portman Road it’s always going to be something to look forward to,” he said about the upcoming match.
“Now they’re going to be led by a new manager, so that’s always something that’s going to add more interest to it.
“Of course, it’s a club I have an affinity with, and I always want them to do well. Hopefully not in the game that is coming up, but other than that, I wish them all the best and I’m sure he’ll be a good addition to the league.”
