Daniel Dubois branded 'embarrassing' for Oleksandr Usyk confrontation following Tyson Fury win

Daniel Dubois has come under fire for what has been described as an 'embarrassing' confrontation with Oleksandr Usyk in the ring, following his triumph over Tyson Fury. Usyk secured a decisive win against the Gypsy King in Saudi Arabia, which saw him win on points by a four-round margin across all three judges scorecards, thus retaining his WBA, WBO, and WBC belts.

However, his celebration was short-lived as soon after, IBF heavyweight champion Dubois, who Usyk had previously knocked out in 2023, made his presence felt.

In the middle of Usyk's post-victory interview, Dubois boldly interrupted to both congratulate and challenge Usyk, resulting in a slightly awkward moment. Grabbing the mic from the interviewer, Dubois declared: "I want my revenge" adding poignantly: "I want my revenge Usyk! Well done tonight, well done. God bless. I want my revenge for the robbery last time. Let's go, let's go. Make it happen Frank!"

Usyk replied promptly and showed his willingness for a rematch by saying: "Your excellency, make the fight with Daniel Dubois. Thank you so much."

He was clear in his response: "I can do more. I'm ready to fight (Dubois), no problem. Next fight no problem. Now I want to go home and rest."

Despite Dubois' bold move, some boxing fans were not impressed, criticising his approach. One fan voiced their opinion on social media, stating simply: "Truly embarrassing, Daniel Dubois."

"The second-hand cringe/embarrassment for Daniel Dubois in the ring tonight was David Brent levels," one viewer remarked. Adding to the criticism, another said: "Embarrassing from Dubois, let Usyk have his moment and concentrate on your next fight with Parker."

From a different user on X, the comments continued: "Daniel Dubois leave the ring man, it's embarrassing."

"Proper embarrassing from Dubois that, painful in fact," echoed another viewer.

Another keen observer pointed out: "Dubois is embarrassing he's still got to fight Parker in February the plonker," highlighting Dubois' upcoming challenge.

Indeed, Dubois has a defence of his IBF heavyweight world title scheduled against Joseph Parker on February 22. They will clash at an event during Riyadh Season.

The 27-year-old secured the IBF interim title following his win over Filip Hrgovic in June and was promoted to world champion when Usyk opted for the Fury fight. Since then, the British fighter has successfully defended his title against Anthony Joshua.

Parker, a seasoned contender and former world champion, boosted his record by defeating former WBC champ Deontay Wilder and earning a points victory over Zhilei Zhang to claim the WBO Interim title.
