TEN Man City players miss training as Pep Guardiola deploys extreme tactic before PSG

Ten Manchester City players missed the open section of training on Tuesday ahead of the Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain - with the only defenders present their £63m double signing.

City completed the signings of Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis this week, with both youngsters training with their teammates for the first time on Tuesday morning. However, neither will be eligible to play at PSG as they cannot be registered until the League Phase of the Champions League is completed.

Every eligible defender - or midfielder who could play at the back - was missing from the first 15 minutes of training which is open to broadcasters and journalists, as Pep Guardiola appeared to throw a huge distraction ahead of their flight to France later on Tuesday.

John Stones has been injured and Nathan Ake missed the trip to Ipswich with an injury of his own. Manu Akanji went off at Portman Road to rest him ahead of this game, while Matheus Nunes has been playing at right-back for the last three games.

Guardiola could be asked about the extreme move when he faces the media in Paris later on Tuesday, while all eyes will be on the travelling squad - if it is announced - to see who is present and who is not.

Kyle Walker has been linked with a move to AC Milan having asked to leave but he has been training with the team despite not featuring in any fixtures since his transfer request. Some reports suggested he was due in Italy on Tuesday but City are still waiting on an offer from Milan.

Walker was part of the defensive group who were missing from training, as were Nico O'Reilly and James McAtee who have played in defence in the past. Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb were also missing.

That meant that Walker, Akanji, Ake, Nunes, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Rico Lewis and Nunes were all missing, while academy defenders Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Max Alleyne were also not present.

City training squad vs PSG: Ederson, Ortega, Carson; Khusanov, Reis, Kovacic, Gundogan, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Wright, Foden, Grealish, Savinho, Bobb, Haaland, Mubamba
