Liverpool, meanwhile, will be looking to secure a treble of Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup titles under Arne Slot, sitting 15 points clear of Arsenal in the league, and set to clash with Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.

What happened in the first leg between Liverpool and PSG?

In the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie, Liverpool defeated PSG 1-0 at the Parc des Princes. The only goal of the match came from Elliot, who scored in the 87th minute after bursting into the box before slotting the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

It could have been a completely different state of affairs for the Reds, however. PSG started strong and scored in the 20th minute through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but the goal was disallowed due to the Georgian being offside. A few minutes later there was a crucial VAR decision involving Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate, who looked to have bowled over Bradley Barcola to deny an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

VAR cleared Konate of any wrongdoing however, also ruling out a penalty to PSG in the process. In total, PSG had 27 shots to Liverpool's two, with Alisson receiving a Player of the Match award thanks to denying the French side on nine occasions.
