Champions League quarter-final ties in full as Liverpool and Arsenal's opponents confirmed

The Champions League round-of-16 is complete, with only two of the six English clubs - Arsenal and Liverpool - making it through to this season's quarter-final stage

Liverpool will have the chance to exact revenge on Paris Saint-Germain after they joined Arsenal the Champions League quarter-finals. Arne Slot's side overturned their 1-0 first-leg defeat to Galatasaray by running out 4-0 winners at Anfield in the second leg.

On Tuesday, Arsenal booked their place in the last eight with a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Bayer Leverkusen, going through 3-1 on aggregate. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Chelsea both crashed out after failing to overturn heavy first-leg losses against Real Madrid and PSG respectively.

Newcastle followed them on Wednesday, as they were thrashed 7-2 by Barcelona. And to cap a poor last 16 for English clubs, Tottenham also couldn't recover from last week's 5-2 drubbing away to Atletico Madrid, despite winning 3-2 on the night.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich breezed past Atalanta with a 10-2 aggregate thumping, and Sporting Lisbon pulled off an epic second-leg comeback by beating Bodo/Glimt 5-0. That's set up a mouth-watering quarter-final stage.

Liverpool will play PSG while Arsenal take on Sporting. Both Premier League sides will be away in the first leg and have home advantage in the second thanks to their superior league phase finishes.

PSG knocked Liverpool out of the competition last season before going on to win their first European Cup. Also in the 2024-25 edition, Arsenal travelled to Sporting in the league phase. The Gunners previously met the Portuguese giants in the Europa League knockouts three years ago.

Bayern and Real Madrid will face off for arguably the tie of the round. Finally, Barcelona will have their own shot at revenge in against Atletico Madrid, who recently beat them in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Barca and Atletico will, coincidentally, play each other three times in a row next month. They're due to meet in La Liga on Saturday, April 4 at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Last year's semi-finalists, Barcelona, produced the scoreline of the week as they obliterated Newcastle with four goals in the second half. A brace each from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski were complimented by strikes by Marc Bernal and Fermin Lopez as well as a penalty from Lamine Yamal.

The bookies' favourites for the competition, however, remain Bayern and Arsenal. The two teams topped the league phase, although Arsenal got the better of the German heavyweights 3-1 when they met in November, as Mikel Arteta bids to guide the Gunners to an unprecedented quadruple.

But what of Real Madrid? The 15-time European champions managed to beat City without Kylian Mbappe for most the tie, and they'll be desperate to end a chaotic season with a 16th title.

The first legs will take place on Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8. The second legs will follow on Tuesday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 15.
