Wolves vs Arsenal ends in chaos as players clash after full-time whistle
After Arsenal let a two-goal lead slip against Wolverhampton Wanderers, both teams came together in the middle of the pitch in dramatic scenes at Molineux
by Patrick Austen-Hardy · The MirrorWolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal stars were involved in a post-match melee after their dramatic Premier League draw. Mikel Arteta's side needed a victory to move seven points clear in the title race.
Having been held to a 1-1 draw away to Brentford, the Gunners looked set to secure a precious three points against the division's rock-bottom side. Bukayo Saka, playing in the space just behind the striker, ended his barren spell in front of goal by heading in the opening goal.
It seemed like the victory was secured when Piero Hincapie beat the Wolves offside trap to lash in a fine finish to double the north Londoners' lead. However, a spectacular strike from Hugo Bueno gave Rob Edwards' side a route back into the game.
Arteta brought on Riccardo Calafiori to try to hold onto the victory but the Italian ended up bundling the ball into his own net in unfortunate fashion.
Gabriel Magalhaes and David Raya collided with each other allowing Tom Edozie to strike a half volley goalbound, which deflected off Gabriel and then ricocheted off the post and onto Calafiori, before bobbling into the net.

When the final whistle was blown, an on-pitch scuffle involving both sets of players took place. Gabriel Jesus lost his temper and shoved Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera, which then prompted Mateus Mane to step in and shove the Brazilian in retaliation.
Jesus was booked for his post-match shove on Mosquera as several arguments continued to take place, long after the whistle had been blown. It was the clearest indication that Arsenal allowed their frustrations to overboil in the Midlands.

Considering the position they were in and the fact Manchester City will move within two points of the Gunners if they beat Newcastle United this weekend, it's no wonder Arsenal players lost their temper.
It also adds even more pressure on this Sunday's north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs will also be somewhat of an unknown entity, given new interim manager Igor Tudor will be in the dugout for the first time.
Anything less than a victory could bring monumental problems for the Gunners, particularly with Chelsea also visiting the Emirates Stadium the weekend after. But right now, Arteta has to mull on four huge points which have been dropped in their last two matches.
They also led Brentford when Noni Madueke headed in the first goal, only to let the lead slip when Keane Lewis-Potter found the net. Allowing a two-goal lead to slip against Wolves could prove to be an unforgivable slip-up, especially with Pep Guardiola's side moving closer and closer.
