Mikel Arteta shares worrying injury update on Bukayo Saka after Arsenal star limps off
Arsenal smashed Crystal Palace 5-1 at Selhurst Park to cut the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, but their night was soured by an injury suffered by Bukayo Saka
by Dan Marsh · The MirrorMikel Arteta admits he's "worried" about the injury Arsenal star Bukayo Saka suffered in their thumping 5-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The England star, 23, was withdrawn midway through the first half after he appeared to hurt his hamstring while crossing the ball. He headed straight down the tunnel after treatment, sparking speculation over the severity of his injury.
Arsenal have a packed schedule in the coming weeks due to the Christmas and New Year schedule - and Arteta says it's too soon to determine whether they will be without Saka or not.
Speaking post-match, he said: "We are pretty worried about Saka’s injury.
"He grabbed his hamstring and couldn’t continue. He will have to be assessed but we are pretty worried, yes."
Speaking to Match of the Day, he added: "He felt something. It is too early to assess him. It was a precaution with him right now."
Gabriel Jesus scored twice to end his 11 month Premier League goal drought in Saturday's win - just days after plundering a hat-trick in the Gunners' 3-2 triumph over Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
He said: "Obviously the first goal was very important early. The way we started, the full team was really ready to play well and fight. They have a strong team and quality players and we know it is always difficult to come here. We did the job and I am very happy with the goals as a number nine, I know the pressure is always on to score. I am happy but the win, the three points, was massive today."
