David Moyes names business Everton must do on transfer deadline day
Everton have hit form under David Moyes with eight goals in four games and three straight wins, but are still the third lowest scorers in the Premier League and have lost two strikers to injury this month
by Chris McKenna · The MirrorDavid Moyes insists he’s doing everything to land a striker before the transfer window slams shut tonight.
Everton may have scored eight goals in four games under the Scot but after injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja, they need reinforcements in attack. Beto bagged a brace in the 4-0 thrashing of Leicester City on Saturday, but they are still the third lowest scorers in the Premier League.
Midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is set to complete his loan move from Flamengo today but a forward will also be on the agenda before the deadline.
Everton are nine points clear of the drop zone after their third win in a row under Moyes but he’s not taking anything for granted.
The Toffees boss said: “I'm not here to say, if I said to you, name who you think would be suitable, I would probably guarantee that we've already gone through that.
“There's either a reason we can't get him, too expensive, not for sale, it would be something. It's sometimes quite an easy question to put out. Everybody would say it, they'd say, no, it's not easy.
“There's probably three or four teams in the Premier League chasing centre-forwards. Trying to get one has not been easy. By the way, I'm trying everything we can to add to the squad before the deadline.
“It's OK to win a few games, you only need to lose a couple and you can find yourself struggling to get back. So we'll try.”
Moyes has dragged his side away from danger and while he is looking upwards, knows there can be no let up from his side.
“I wish we were 10 points clear at the top of the league. We can’t relax until we are in a strong position. Let’s see if we can start climbing the league - but the job is to see we are still a Premier League team.”
