Aston Villa learn four possible last-16 opponents as they bypass playoff with Celtic win

ASTON VILLA 3-2 CELTIC: Unai Emery's side will face Club Brugge, Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund or Atalanta in the last 16 of the Champions League

Morgan Rogers grabbed a hat-trick as Aston Villa won the latest Battle of Britain - and squeezed themselves into the last 16 of the Champions League.

The England international took home the match ball after a ding-dong scrap at Villa Park.

Rogers netted two inside the opening five minutes, but when watched as Celtic’s Adam Idah did likewise near the end of the first half.

Ollie Watkins restored Villa’s lead, then blazed a penalty over the bar - and a mistake in the dying seconds presented the Brummie with a chance to slot home his third and finish off Brendan Rodgers' men.

Results elsewhere went in favour of Unai Emery’s side with Atalanta’s 2-2 draw at Barcelona sufficient for them to finish eighth and avoid a game in the play-offs.
