Man Utd dressing room reaction after Ruben Amorim destroys TV in furious rant

Ruben Amorim caused damage to a TV in Manchester United's dressing room following the dreadful defeat to Brighton, catching his under-performing players by surprise

by · The Mirror

The Manchester United dressing room were caught by surprise by Ruben Amorim's furious blast following the defeat to Brighton.

Amorim has endured a difficult start to his reign as Red Devils boss, winning just six of his 15 matches in charge. Sunday's loss was his seventh since arriving at Old Trafford and led to the embattled 39-year-old describing his side as the 'worst in United's history'.

While he remained calm during his post-match press conference, Amorim let rip at his players behind closed doors. The Portuguese coach usually presents a calm demeanour to his players.

He has made much of the fact that he believes it will be a long road back for United under his management. But Amorim's frustrations bubbled over on Sunday following another dismal defeat.

According to The Athletic, Amorim 'caused damage' to the big screen television in United's dressing room. He had been 'fiercely voicing' his angry at his team and showed his frustrations physically towards a TV used to go through tactics.

It is said that his actions were 'striking' to the players on the receiving end. Their shock was even more pronounced because Amorim usually does not say a word in the immediate aftermath of matches.

Instead, he tends to stay silent straight after the final whistle and instead go through analysis the next day. It is claimed repairs on the affected television will take place before the game with Rangers on Thursday night.

Amorim's actions have drawn comparisons to legendary United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who famously delivered 'hairdryers' to his side when angry at their performance. The current Red Devils chief pulled no punches in his public assessment of the defeat to Brighton.

"We have to acknowledge the moment and not go around the problem. Everybody here is underperforming. No matter the circumstances, we are underperforming and we have to accept it is unacceptable to lose so many games," he fumed.

"I knew it was going to be hard to put in a completely new idea in the moment. But when you lose games, you don't have that luck to win three games in a row, it's becoming really hard.

"In 10 Premier League games, we've won two. I know that. If it's [like] this for a fan of Manchester United, imagine what it's like for me. You are getting a new coach that is losing more than the last coach, I have full knowledge of that.

"We are being the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United, and I know that you want headlines but I'm saying that because we have to acknowledge that and change that."
