Next Everton manager odds: Who is favourite to take over from Sean Dyche?
The search begins to replace Sean Dyche as the former Toffees boss was shown the door just hours before Everton's FA Cup tie with Peterborough United
by Tom Phillips · The MirrorEverton Football Club has dismissed its manager Sean Dyche in an attempt to escape the threat of relegation. The search now begins to replace him and the bookies have a firm favourite in place to take over at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche, previously at the helm of Burnley FC, took charge in January 2023 when his predecessor, Frank Lampard, left the squad languishing at 19th position in the Premier League. Through a nail-biting 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on the final day of the season, Dyche managed to secure Everton's place in the Premier League. Despite two separate point deductions, Everton managed to steer clear of relegation under his leadership in the subsequent season.
The current season, however, has proven more challenging. The departure of key player Amadou Onana during the summer and an injury to centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite that led to a slow start for Dyche's Everton have added to the club's woes. With Everton precariously perched at 16th place, a mere point away from the relegation zone after only one win in their last 10 Premier League matches, Dyche has been relieved of his duties. This decision comes just hours before Everton are set to face Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.

Who is the bookies favourites to be the next Everton manager?
Former Toffees boss David Moyes is the bookies favourite to return to the club having left Goodison Park 12 years ago as Sky Bet have him priced at Evens for the surprise return.
If he does return, Moyes has had quite the journey in his managerial career since the last time he was in the Everton dugout. The Scottish coach first took over Sir Alex Ferguson as Man United boss but was sacked in April 2014 failing to complete a season at Old Trafford then took over at La Liga side Real Sociedad in November 2014 before he was sacked there just a day before his anniversary of the appointment.
In July 2016, he took over at Sunderland and lasted one season which ended with his resignation after failing to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League as they finished bottom in the league and suffered relegation to the Championship.
Other suitors include former Chelsea and Man United boss Jose Mourinho who is so far enjoying his time at Fenerbahce where they are second in the league and six points behind arch-rivals Galatasaray. Mourinho is currently 3/1 to take on his fourth Premier League in his managerial career with his last job being at Tottenham Hotspur where he was shown the door just days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
