Arne Slot agrees with Jamie Carragher after Liverpool icon's Mohamed Salah rant
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has been very critical of Mohamed Salah after his contract comments and Reds boss Arne Slot has now had his say on the situation
by Daniel Orme · The MirrorArne Slot is on the same page as Jamie Carragher by claiming Mohamed Salah is among the best players Liverpool have had despite his contract saga.
The Egyptian has caused a storm over recent days with his comments regarding his Anfield future. Salah has claimed that he has not been offered a new deal by Reds chiefs.
As a result, the forward believes that means he is closer to leaving the club at the end of the season. Liverpool icon Carragher is one of a number of voices to have reacted to the news.
He slammed Salah as selfish for his comments given the position that Liverpool find themselves in at the top of the table. Slot has agreed with Carragher - but only on his glowing praise of his forward, with Carragher claiming he is one of Liverpool's best-ever players.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League clash with Real Madrid, the Dutchman said: “I focus a bit more on what else he [Carragher] said. He said he was one of the best five players Liverpool had.
“I agree with him. I don't think it distracts Mo. I think it brings the best out of him. I talk to Mo about what I expect from him, like I do to all the players. He's in a good place at the moment.”
Salah will be aiming to continue his hot form this week despite the furore surrounding his future. The Egyptian has 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season.

And while Carragher and Slot have claimed that he has a place among Liverpool’s best-ever players, that will unlikely satisfy the forward. He previously claimed that he wanted to be among the best two in the club’s history alongside legendary former midfielder Steven Gerrard.
Speaking earlier this season, he said: "I think I want them to always remember that I give everything to the club. That's very important to me. The people just remind you that you really give everything to the club.
"I also say 'that's one of the best players who ever played for Liverpool'. They don't have to say the best, that's their decision, but at least one of the best. They can say one of the top two, it's fine. Between me and Stevie, it's OK."
