Man Utd flop handed transfer lifeline in plan involving Arsenal star Kieran Tierney
Tyrell Malacia has never been able to truly establish himself at Manchester United and he could secure himself a loan move this month with Celtic considering their options
by Samuel Meade · The MirrorManchester United's Tyrell Malacia is on Celtic's radar in the coming days if they can't secure a move for Kieran Tierney before the transfer window closes.
The Scottish club have secured a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal that will see Tierney head back to Parkhead in the summer. They are hopeful of accelerating his move and landing him this month, with Greg Taylor the only recognised left-back currently in their squad.
Should they miss out on landing Tierney they may have to turn to United's Dutch defender, who has only just returned after 18 months out injured. Malacia isn't expected to be a regular under Ruben Amorim and Celtic may consider a loan move to fill their void temporarily.
Brendan Rodgers is reliant on several moving parts with Arsenal, who've had to deal with several injuries this term, unsure whether they can afford to let Tierney leave. Oleksandr Zinchenko could yet move to Atletico Madrid, which would impact on Tierney's future.
According to the Daily Mail, United themselves are likely to be more willing to listen to offers for Malacia if, as expected, they do secure a deal for Lecce star Patrick Dorgu. Real Betis are also showing an interest in a deal for the Dutchman until the summer.
Malacia insists, despite his lengthy period on the sidelines, that he's primed to make an impact. He said: "I'm always prepared. I always want to play good games, so it doesn't matter against who. I feel sharp and I feel ready. All I want to do is to play football. It's been a long time so I'm happy to be back."
Amorim could yet see several of his squad leave in the final days of the transfer window. The Manchester club have made it clear they'll listen to offers for any of their players with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho potentially on the move.
Rashford is no longer part of the first-team picture at Old Trafford and hasn't played since mid-December. His wages have proved to be a stumbling block for potential suitors with a loan move most likely.
Garnacho meanwhile is the subject of interest from Chelsea and Napoli. His agent has been discussing possible exit routes for the Argentine, who has also been dropped by Amorim in the past. Garnacho would command a hefty fee and would result in a hefty profit for United.
