Arsenal and Chelsea Rodrygo transfer latest after 'approach made' amid Bayern Munich threat
by Bruna Reis · football.londonArsenal and Chelsea are reportedly set to go head-to-head for Rodrygo’s signature this summer - but Spanish media claim another club is ahead of them in the pecking order.
There is a possibility that Rodrygo could be available this summer, following reports that Xabi Alonso has marked three players - including the Brazilian for departure.
He has struggled for regular game time in recent months and that hasn't improved under new manager Alonso. The forward only started one of Real's Club World Cup games in the group stage opener last month.
Reports from Spain this week claim that Alonso is keen to reshape his squad and has identified Rodrygo, Dani Ceballos, and Brahim Diaz as players available for transfer.
The trio are said to be allowed to leave if the club receives suitable offers. Meanwhile, Spanish publication OK Diario have also shared an update regarding the future of Rodrygo, claiming that both Arsenal and Chelsea have 'approached' the winger's agent in 'recent weeks.'
However, no offers are said to have been made. Interest from German giants Bayern Munich has also been reported with Rodrygo claimed to be their 'first candidate' to replace Jamal Musiala.
Musiala sustained a serious injury during Bayern's 2-0 FIFA Club World Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
The report adds that Bayern are prepared to make a 'significant offer' for Rodrygo, having previously approached him last summer.
Real, who are said to be 'very open to negotiating', have valued their player at €80million (£69m).
This figure is more than what they were expected to pay for Nico Williams before he signed a new bumper deal with Athletic Bilbao.
Manchester City also showed interest in Rodrygo last summer, with Pep Guardiola reportedly making a direct call to the player - who chose to remain in the Spanish capital.
While the 24-year-old has been determined to fight for his place at the Bernabeu, the report highlights that he is now 'reconsidering his future.' The next few weeks could be decisive.
