Mikel Arteta gives instructions to Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri

Arsenal add new player to first team squad before Man Utd Premier League clash

by · football.london

Premier League football is back and Arsenal will be looking to go one better than each of the previous three seasons and claim the title for the first time since 2004.

Mikel Arteta sends his Arsenal team into battle against Manchester United on the opening weekend of the season, having to wait until 4.30pm on Sunday, live on Sky Sports, for the start of their campaign.

Arteta, with the help of sporting director Andrea Berta, has added six new faces to the squad for the upcoming campaign having allowed eight players to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have spent around £208 million (including add-ons) on Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

And they may not be done yet, with suggestions a final signing could be made before the transfer window closes. That may rely on players moving out of the club, however, with the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, albert Sambi Lokonga and Leandro Trossard all linked with departures.

But while six new faces could be part of the matchday squad against United at Old Trafford - providing there are no injuries - there is another new face in the dressing room and on the first team squad list.

Ethan Nwaneri was not allowed to be in the first team dressing room prior to matches because of his age last season.

But having turned 18 in March and having signed a new contract with the club, he is part of the first team set-up and will be in the changing room with his teammates at Old Trafford.

He is set to play a big role following his breakout year.

Teen prodigy Max Dowman, who is expected to get minutes this season, remains on the academy section of the website while fellow teen star Marli Salmon is not even pictured.
