Arsenal handed major Viktor Gyokeres update with 'preferred' Premier League transfer

Arsenal-linked Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly set his sights on three Premier League clubs as potential destinations, should he make a move to English football this summer.

However, his former coach's club Manchester United doesn't feature in his preferred list, according to reports from Portugal. Gyokeres, who is currently linked with a move to the English top-flight, could be available for less than his €100million (£84m) release clause.

Reports suggest that the player has a gentleman's agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal, which would allow him to depart for a reported fee of €70m (£59m).

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has claimed that Gyokeres prefers Liverpool, Arsenal or Manchester City if a move to England materialises, with his departure from Lisbon seen as highly likely at the end of the season.

While the Premier League is his desired destination, other clubs are also keeping tabs on his situation. The 26-year-old is claimed to also favour Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich as options outside of England.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano also provided an update on Gyokeres last weekend. "The package that Sporting could accept, could be around €65m to €75m," he said on his YouTube channel.

"That's a very good price for one of the best strikers in Europe in terms of numbers. All the top clubs in Europe are going very strong for Gyokeres in the summer. I've been informed this price could be enough to land him. Many clubs are exploring the situation and are ready to present their project to Viktor Gyokeres."

Despite being under contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade until 2028, Sporting reportedly sees Gyokeres' exit as 'inevitable' come this summer, having successfully resisted bids in the winter window.

Gyokeres is a target for the Gunners and the club's priorities will be to sign a new attacker at the end of the campaign. Injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz have cost them the Premier League title this term.
