Is Tottenham vs Liverpool on ITV? Carabao Cup semi-final TV details explained
by Amie Wilson · football.londonTottenham could take a step closer to the much needed silverware tonight as they kick off their Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Liverpool.
Spurs host the Premier League leaders at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight (Wednesday) in the first leg of the final four clash (8pm kick-off). The second leg is scheduled for February 6 at 8pm and will be played at Anfield.
The second leg at Liverpool will be shown live on free to air TV on ITV1, but fans hoping to watch the first leg on the same channel will be left disappointed. That’s due to the broadcast agreement between the EFL and ITV only including two of the four semi-final clashes.
The first leg of the other semi-final between Arsenal and Newcastle was shown on the channel on Tuesday night. Goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon gave the Magpies a 2-0 advantage, however the second leg will not be shown on ITV.
Instead of being free to air, all four semi-final games, including Wednesday night’s first leg, are being shown live on Sky Sports
In a statement released earlier this month, the EFL confirmed: "All ties will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. The first leg of Arsenal v Newcastle and the second leg of Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur will also be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX as part of a collaboration to give all UK football fans the chance to watch free-to-air coverage of select Carabao Cup and EFL fixtures."
Tottemham will be shown live on ITV1 later this week, when they travel to take on Tamworth in the third round of the FA Cup. The game will be shown live on the channel and ITVX at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
