Leicester City vs Chelsea Premier League score predicted as Enzo Maresca haunts former side
by Lewis Barton · football.londonChelsea and Leicester City will go head to head in the Premier League early kick-off later today, where the Blues have the chance to move six points off top of the league.
After a two-week international break, Chelsea return to action this weekend, with the Blues facing Enzo Maresca's former side, Leicester City. A 1-1 draw with Arsenal prior to the international break means Chelsea sit third in the Premier League table, but the standings are extremely close, with just three points separating the Blues and 11th place.
The last meeting between Chelsea and Leicester came in the FA Cup last season, with the Blues winning 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. Cole Palmer will be available for the clash later today, but Reece James will be sidelined once again, despite the defender only recently returning from injury.
So, can Maresca's side return to Premier League action with three points? Let's take a look.
Leicester City vs Chelsea score predicted
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that the Foxes could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Winks, Soumare; Khaddnouss, Edouard, Mavididi.
We predict that the Blues could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Lavia; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
Chelsea were in full control in the early stages of the game, but against the run of play it was Leicester who took the lead. A penalty was awarded to the Foxes when Odsonne Edouard was brought down in the box by Wesley Fofana, and the Leicester striker stepped up to take, chipping his shot down the middle of the goal to make it 1-0.
The goal didn't phase the Blues as they continued to press for their first of the game, but some poor finishing from Maresca's side saw them miss some fantastic opportunities in the first-half. Fortunately for Chelsea, it didn't take them long to draw level after the restart.
As Chelsea looked for a way past Leicester's low block, Marc Cucurella played a perfectly-timed pass over the Foxes backline for Pedro Neto, with no defender's picking up the winger's run. After cutting inside, his first shot rattled the post, but the ball fell back to the feet of Neto who managed to tap home on the second attempt.
Cole Palmer should've made it 2-1 moments later when he stole the ball off Wout Faes to surge through one-on-one with the 'keeper, but the Englishman scuffed his shot as he curled wide of the post. As the game went on, the pressure started to mount on the Blues, but in the 79th minute, they finally took the lead.
A Leicester corner was headed clear by Levi Colwill to the feet of Palmer just outside the box, and the midfielder hoofed a long ball forward for Nicolas Jackson to chase. The striker managed to pluck the ball out of the air before holding off his marker, and one-on-one, Jackson rifled a shot into the far corner, completing the turnaround.
The hosts threw everything forward in the final 10 minutes, but Chelsea defended bravely to see out the three points.
EA FC 25 predicted final score: Leicester City 1-2 Chelsea
