Arsenal and Tottenham in five-way battle as transfer admission made
by Amie Wilson · football.londonArsenal and Tottenham are one of five clubs showing an interest in young Hammarby winger Bazoumana Toure, according to reports.
With the January transfer window just a matter of weeks away, clubs will be getting together their links of potential targets to strengthen their squads in the window. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, one player to keep an eye on will be Toure.
The 18-year-old is highly rated in the Swedish top tier. This season has seen him score nine goals and provide four assists in 23 league appearances. He also has three caps for Ivory Coast U20s.
The report says that Arsenal and Tottenham are both ‘monitoring’ the youngster, but they are not the only teams interested in the teenager. German sides Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Leipzig and Wolfsburg are also said to be watching the player.
Toure is under contract until 2028, meaning that Hammarby will reportedly be after a fee of around £5 million for the player.. He joined from ASEC Mimosas back in March for a fee of £370,000.
It’s not the only time Arsenal have been linked with an interest in the youngser. The Mirror reported back in September that the Gunners had scouts in attendance for some of Hammarby’s matches this season to keep an eye on him.
Speaking on the interest back them, the club’s sporting director admitted that they may be powerless to keep hold of Toure. “There are a lot of clubs coming to the match against Hacken,” he said.
“We need to plan for a future without him. Then if it happens this winter, next summer or even further than that – I don’t think so, we’ll see. But the longer we get to keep him the better.”
