Oliver Glasner hands Tottenham subtle Eberechi Eze transfer boost with nine-word verdict

by · football.london

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has sent a fresh Eberechi Eze verdict as transfer links to Tottenham ramp up. The England international has been strongly linked to an exit from Selhurst Park with Arsenal also showing an interest earlier in the window.

Both north London clubs have looked to strengthen in attack ahead of the 2025/26 season with the Gunners doing much of their business in July. Signing Noni Madueke joining from Chelsea for £52million was included in that with that move and Ethan Nwaneri signing a new contract playing a role in Spurs being favourites for Eze's signature.

Spurs meanwhile, have plenty of funds available and are hoping to therefore sign Eze and Manchester City's Savinho. It is being claimed that Tottenham are yet to hit their respective asking prices, but the hope is both deals will go through.

In the meantime, the duo are still expected to play for their current clubs, though Glasner was unable to definitely confirm Eze's involvement for the weekend.

“He has trained all week and is preparing in the best way for the Chelsea game," he admitted on Friday. “I expect him to start for us on Sunday.” Unless a significant breakthrough arrives, the expectation is he will feature but the words used last week on Eze were certainly different.

“It’s part of success,” he admitted when asked about Eze and Marc Guehi. “If you are successful, it means that the players perform very well.

“When you are at Crystal Palace, this is what happens. Many bigger clubs are interested in your players. We had this last year, especially with Michael [Olise]. It just shows that we have great players in the squad.

“High-talented players, and they did very well for Crystal Palace, and then it’s normal that there are rumours and some speculation.

“But if you watch the training sessions, they are 100% focused on Crystal Palace and then we will see what happens. He will play on Sunday [vs Liverpool], definitely.

Eze played the entirety of that clash and despite missing from 12 yards in the penalty shoot-out, the Eagles claimed a second trophy in a number of months. Just a few days later, Spurs very nearly did the same but they were denied on spot-kicks by Paris Saint-Germain.

Nonetheless, it looks as though Eze still wants to join with minutes in an attacking midfield role almost guaranteed and Champions League football on offer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
