We simulated Liverpool vs Arsenal to predict the score for Premier League clash

by · football.london

After a tough week, things don't get easier for Arsenal as the Gunners travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool in the Premier League later today.

Arsenal are winless in their last four games across all competitions, with the Gunners losing out on the Premier League while being knocked out of the Champions League in just over two weeks. A 3-1 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain ended Mikel Arteta's Champions League run at the semi-finals, and now, Arsenal head to Anfield to take on Premier League champions Liverpool.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-2 draw, with the Gunners unbeaten in the Premier League against the Reds since 2022. If Arteta's side fail to win though, there is a possibility they could drop down the table with Manchester City, Newcastle and Chelsea breathing down their neck.

So, can Arsenal end their winless run against Liverpool this weekend? We used EA FC 25 to get a score prediction.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Premier League score predicted

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Calafiori; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Merino, Martinelli.

An uneventful first half unfolded at Anfield, with Liverpool dominating possession but doing nothing with it as Arsenal sat deep and defended their box well. It didn't seem like either side were willing to take risks, but early in the second half, it was the Gunners who went ahead following a comical defensive error.

As Arsenal ventured forward, Declan Rice opted to try his luck with a shot from range, with the midfielder drilling his strike towards the bottom corner from 25 yards out. Alisson got down well to make a strong save, but the save deflected off Andy Robertson who was sprinting back towards his own goal, with the ball bundling into the net to send the visitors into the lead.

A goal ahead, Arteta's side sat back into their defensive shape which was worked a treat in the first half, limiting Liverpool to a handful of ambitious shots from outside the box. A shake-up in shape and personnel from Arne Slot saw the Reds start to look more dangerous around the Arsenal box, and with 14 minutes to go, the Reds drew level.

A wonderful through ball from Curtis Jones allowed Luis Diaz to break into the box and meet the pass, but after getting the wrong side of Ben White, the Colombian was tripped in the box, winning the hosts a penalty. Mohamed Salah stepped up to take, and despite David Raya diving the right way, his effort sneaked into the bottom corner to make it 1-1.

Arsenal almost grabbed a late winner when Bukayo Saka beat Robertson on the right and cut inside, but a fantastic Alisson save tipped the effort over the crossbar as the points were shared at Anfield.
