What Bukayo Saka is doing during international break as Arsenal injury recovery plan revealed

by · football.london

Bukayo Saka will step up his return from injury during the March international break, while a number of his teammates jet off across the world.

Saka has been missing from the Arsenal squad since tearing his hamstring in the win over Crystal Palace on December 21. However, he is well on the road to recovery and is expected to be back in action after the international break.

At least that is what Mikel Arteta last suggested. And the Arsenal manager has been asked once again what the situation is with Saka.

Arsenal will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after their 9-3 aggregate win over PSV Eindhoven in the last 16. There is a hope that Saka will be fit to play in that crucial two-legged affair.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's game with Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend, Arteta was asked about Saka 's plans for the international break.

He said: "He is going to be here, hopefully more with the ball at his feet than he has had. That will mean he is passing the ball and shooting and running and everything.

"He has done quite a lot already on the pitch working on his own. Next we need to arrange it with people around him in a more competitive training session and see how he goes with that."

There will be a number of first team players remaining at London Colney, to give Saka the competitive action he requires before everyone returns for another full week of training, with Arsenal out of the FA Cup. Arteta is likely to use a number of young players in helping Saka recover fully from his injury.

football.london understands that Arsenal are going to be very cautious with Saka over the next few weeks, but it has not come as a surprise the willingness and determination from the player himself to return as soon as possible.

Arsenal's next match after the Chelsea clash is on Tuesday, April 1 against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium. They then travel to Goodison Park for the final time ever before that first Champions League clash with Los Blancos.
