Arsenal get key boost after £15m transfer agreement amid Noni Madueke update

by · football.london

While Arsenal are yet to officially add to their squad this summer, it seems that there is a few deals in the works.

Deals for Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga look to be close with Mikel Arteta strengthening his squad ahead of the new season. Both players are reported to have been in London this week to complete formalities of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

There is however still no concrete movement in the search for a striker. Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres seem to be the main two targets, with the former sending a hint on social media on Wednesday evening.

There is a lot of talk over potential incomings at Arsenal. With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at a couple of the latest stories, and given our own thoughts on the situation.

£15m transfer agreement

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Brentford over a transfer for Christian Norgaard, according to various reports.

talkSPORT claim that the agreement will see the Gunners pay an initial fee of £10million for the 31-year-old, with an extra £5million in add-ons. It is added that the move was driven by Arteta following the exit of Jorginho and reported exit of Thomas Partey.

FL says : £15million isn’t a bad price for a midfielder who already knows the league and can come in and add competition in the midfield area, and bringing in reinforcements given the uncertainty over Thomas Partey is essential for Arsenal this summer, even with the imminent arrival of Martin Zubimendi.

Norgaard probably won’t be first choice, but making sure the back-up is there could be the difference in a title race.

Arsenal ‘working’ on Madueke deal

Arsenal and Chelsea are ‘working’ on a deal that will see Noni Madueke move to the Emirates Stadium, according to TuttoMercatoWeb .

The report says that both clubs are 'working to find a solution to the negotiation' over a possible move, with Arsenal on the lookout for a winger to provide competition to Bukayo Saka as well as covering various other attacking roles.

It is said that the depth Chelsea have mean that they could be willing to sell him with.

FL says:Madueke has shown what he can do in the Premier League with Chelsea, and if he is able to do that consistently with Arsenal then he would be a brilliant signing. However, if a move is completed, he is more than likely to find himself behind Bukayo Saka in the pecking order.

A lack of game time will not help with finding the consistency needed to unseat Saka from the starting position.
