Manchester City are reportedly set to learn their fate regarding alleged breaches of financial rules sooner than expected.

Since September, the Blues have been involved in a hearing with an independent Premier League panel over what was initially believed to be 115 breaches of historic financial rules. The club was charged in February 2023 for alleged actions between 2009 and 2018.

After much confusion, it is now thought that City have been accused of more than 100 breaches of alleged financial wrongdoings. Pep Guardiola's club have consistently maintained their innocence, asserting they have indisputable evidence of not breaching the rules.

Concurrently, the club has been engaged in a lengthy legal battle with the Premier League over their Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations, arguing that these rules violate UK's competition laws. The Premier League's counter-argument was that APT is used to prevent football club owners from significantly inflating the value of sponsorship deals to evade sanctions.

However, a separate independent panel ruled in City's favour on two key points, which they believe undermine the entirety of APT. Following the APT verdict, City could soon receive the outcome on their alleged financial breaches.

According to The Athletic, the club is now expecting to hear their fate before the year ends which will be positive news for Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and the remainder of the Premier League clubs who are believed to have grown impatient by the lack of clarity. While it was initially expected that City would have to wait until 2025 for a decision from the Premier League's panel, their supporters have been cautioned not to take the Blues' victory on APT as a sign they will avoid sanctions, given that the two cases are being handled independently.
