'Cole Palmer's season could be over' - Leicester vs Chelsea VAR Paul Tierney slammed

TNT Sports pundits Joe Cole and Peter Crouch have not held back when it comes to VAR in the match between Leicester City and Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.

Chelsea led 1-0 at the half-time interval thanks to Nicolas Jackson's 15th minute goal. It was well taken by the Senegalese frontman as he flicked beautifully away from Caleb Okoli before striking a similarly brilliant shot past Mads Hermansen with the outside of his boot.

It could have been more for the Blues, with a Noni Madueke effort ruled out for offside and a number of other good openings going begging.

But their job should have been made even easier, with the TNT Sports pundits believing Leicester should have been reduced to ten.

Wilfred Ndidi went in with an awful scissors-like tackle on Cole Palmer that was deemed to only be worthy of a yellow card by on-field referee Andy Madley. Of course the VAR can always intervene, but chose not to, suggesting the "short distance" and "lack of intensity" meant they stuck with the referee's call.

Cole could not believe it. He said: "He's been lucky Ndidi. That tackle there, he could hurt him there, if the VAR's ever going to step in for reckless endangerment of a player, it's terrible tackle.

"Six Chelsea players run to the referee, he's not even going for the ball with that leg, he's done him. This is a game when they were miles off it, he lost his rag, he should have been sent off.

"Lacked intensity? He's a big athlete, he's jumped in, landed on Cole Palmer's achilles. That could have put Cole Palmer out for the season.

"He nearly scores the equaliser and if he plays a part in getting Leicester back in this game I imagine Enzo Maresca will be furous."

Crouch agreed. He said: "I agree with Joe, it's dangerous, that could have snapped his achilles."
